PALETTE 1.5 PRODUCTION UPDATE

Development for Palette 1.5 began in August 2025 and was originally planned to launch in early 2026. It’s now June, and I’m still working through a number of challenges. Unlike a private-label product, Palette 1.5 is being developed from the ground up. With private labeling, you can take an existing product and simply add your branding. In this case, completely new molds need to be designed and manufactured to create each part. Developing those molds has been one of the most difficult and time-consuming parts of the process.

One thing I’ve learned about product development is that it requires a lot of patience. Many prototypes need to be created before reaching the final design. Even after that, a full production run of thousands of parts can be made, only to discover an issue that requires everything to be scrapped and reproduced. It’s frustrating, and factory try to do their best to avoid this but it’s a normal part of bringing a new product to life.

Some of the challenges we've faced with Palette 1.5 include lids that are too loose and won’t stay closed, lids that are too tight and difficult to open, and hinges that create unwanted noise because they fit too tightly on the pins. These may sound like small details, but they have a big impact on the overall user experience. The list of adjustments and refinements goes on, but each revision brings us one step closer to the final product. I will keep you all updated..
